GCSE Results Day: Our Response

Our young people have been let down. Across the country, teachers have worked diligently and shown the utmost integrity in seeking to protect the future that our young people deserve. Our teachers know our pupils individually. They care about them individually as people, not mere calculations or outputs.

The integrated schooling movement is founded on the fact that students are individuals who are not constrained by labels or categories or statistics.

They should not be judged according to any attribute or factor that is external to them and they should certainly not be judged according to the output of an algorithm. Pupils are people. They are not labels, or statistics, or numbers on a spreadsheet.

We recognise that today has been a difficult day. Many of you who received your results feel angry, let-down and uncertain about what comes next.
