Help to support the Integrated Education Bill

The Integrated Education Bill needs your help.

The Ulster Unionist Party are threatening to join the DUP in signing a Petition of Concern against a bill that supports Integrated Education, disregarding the widespread support. The current education system can’t support the numbers of families wanting to access an integrated school. Our elected officials should be leading the change to meet the demand for places; not blocking it. The establishment of all 68 Integrated schools was community-led with limited or no support from the Department of Education. This bill will redress this imbalance.

25 years after the Good Friday/Belfast Agreement, our MLAs have not taken the opportunity to nurture the growth of Integrated Education. This Bill is the chance to do that – and we need to do that now.

Help us to progress the bill

  • Send an email directly to Doug Beattie and ask him to keep his promises on integrated education. You can do so in a few simple clicks here.

  • Email and call your MLAs and ask them to support the Integrated Education Bill. We can provide you a template – just get in touch! 😊

  • Ask your school leaders to publicly endorse the Bill. Yesterday, Lagan College publicly announced their support for the Bill. Let’s encourage more schools to do the same thing – please contact them. If you do, please let us know as we’d love to know who has been contacted and who we still need to reach.

You can reach us at hello@integratedalumni.org or via any of our social media platforms.

The Further Consideration Stage of the Bill is scheduled for next Wednesday 23rd February – please help us to do all we can ahead of that day.

Thank you for your continued support for Integrated Education.
